Blu Ray and the future of film delivery

Blu ray's problem is that for the general population the image enhancement is not enough enticement to buy. I enjoy a good clear picture and wonderful surround sound but the truth of the matter is if the film is good you lose yourself in the story. Film makers seem to forget (often) that the story is the true selling point of a good movie. Some crappy film with wonderful crisp image and sound is not going to fly off the shelves a month after bombing at the theaters.

I'm a throw back to VHS when that was considered the standard. With DVD we all danced in the aisles happy with the perfect image and sound. Blu ray doesn't do enough. To say the picture is ten times better sounds good but in reality most consumers don't even notice a difference ten minutes into the film.

Wow! Hold up though... I don't believe downloads are the end of hard copies. In fact, with the volumes capable of flash drives in the near future I think it is just as likely you could plug in at the local RED BOX, download the film(s) you like to be played on your device at home.

Not only would it create more savings for the distributor but it would also go along way in helping the environment. No more billions of plastic tossed in the trash.
